Mikhail Gorbachev issues apology to Sean Brijbasi

Mikhail Gorbachev called author Sean Brijbasi yesterday to apologize for not showing up at his launch party/book signing event due to foreseen reasons. Brijbasi said the conversation was cordial but that his office would no longer be taking calls from Mr. Gorbachev asking for free tickets to any future signings or readings. Gorbachev arrived in Washington D.C. earlier this week and is staying at a hotel above the restaurant that Brijbasi's launch party and book signing took place.

"I have a responsibility to those who don't have foreseen reasons", Brijbasi was quoted as saying. "I mean, what's the problem here? Is it me or is calamity a word?"

When asked if he had met with Gorbachev, Brijbasi gave a terse "what since then don't you sound, huh?"

The launch party/book signing event was an overwhelming success for Brijbasi with hordes, hordes of people filling the stadium. Sixty thousand people.

The Kremlin could not be reached for comment.
